It’s got to be so cool to tell your friends that your dad is one of the best in the business in the world of country music. The Fort Worth native simply does not miss. What is even cooler is to tell your friends that you got to play on stage with your dad during a hometown(ish) show.
Last month, Cody Jinks graced Dallas, Texas, with his presence and invited a very special guest to join him when it was time to play “Hippies & Cowboys:” his son, Larson Jinks.
“Alright, I want to bring a real special guest out here. This is going to be his first time to play this song live with us. This is going to be his first time to play a show with me, close enough to call it home.
I want to get my son to come out and play this song with us. We are going to get Larson out here. Come on out here, boy.”
Jinks helps him get plugged in as the crowd at Dos Equis Pavilion cheers widely for the young boy. Following his father’s footsteps, Larson steps out on stage with a black guitar, boots, jeans, and a black T-shirt, ready to rock out alongside his dad. Clearly, the musical gene runs in their family as Larson shreds on the guitar, matching each strum of Jinks.
During the guitar solo, the band turns up Larson a little louder, and you can hear him confidently strumming the acoustic melody that holds the song’s tempo. Larson seems calm, cool and collected while playing for the packed amphitheater.
At the end of the performance, you see him get a little more confident on stage, propping his foot on one of the amps before the band closes out the song.
Maybe I will be sitting here writing about Larson Jinks’ debut single in a few years.
Fun fact: Larson actually has a writing credit for “Loud & Heavy” after he gave his pops the idea for the song from his car seat when he was just a few years old.
