Meg McRee Drops Funky New Single “Usually You”

Music

If you aren’t listening to Meg McRee yet, that needs to change.

Her latest single “Usually You” was just released this past weekend, and once you give it a listen, there’s a solid chance you’ll have this one on repeat all summer long.

With funky, genre-bending instrumentation that would sound equally at home on a Khruangbin track as it does within McRee’s catalog, “Usually You” will take you right to the coast, both sonically and lyrically, with its easy going, laid back aura, and descriptive imagery. A testimony to her songwriting prowess, McRee ropes the listener in as she paint a picture of West Coast beaches and the Pacific Ocean with clever wordplay, yet drives home the notion that, despite the scenic setting, the narrator can’t get their mind off of an old flame.

In tandem with the brand new single, McRee recorded an awesome music video, too. Check both of them out below:

Hailing from Sugar Hill, GA, a small town North of Atlanta, McRee attended college at Vanderbilt University and has been in Nashville ever since, releasing her debut single “A Lot To Say” in 2022 before ultimately dropping an extremely impressive debut record with Is It Just Me? in 2023.

An up and coming act and well respected songwriter on the Music City scene, McRee has collaborated with some of the biggest names the genre, and is bound to be one of the next big women in country music.

The proof is in the music itself, so check out a few more of my favorites by Meg McRee in addition to her latest single “Usually You.”
