Josh Turner To Release 10th Studio Album ‘This Country Music Thing’ In August

Music

Another great album coming our way in 2024.

Today, Josh Turner announced that his 10th studio album This Country Music Thing will be out everywhere on August 16th.

Produced by longtime Turner producer Kenny Greenberg, it’s the first project Turner has put out in several years, as the South Carolina native released a special Christmas album King Size Manger in 2021, and Country State of Mind in 2020, which was a covers album. Last year, he released a Greatest Hits album too.

But, it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a collection of original songs, as he has spent many years away from the spotlight to focus on being a husband and a father. Of course, Turner is the incredible, deep and rich voice behind hits like “Your Man,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance” and “Would You Go With Me,” so it will be exciting to hear some new music from him soon.

In addition to announcing the project, he released the lead single “Down In Georgia” today, which was written by Tyler Booth, Anthony Olympia and Brent Rupard. Turner joked that he chose to cut this one from a new group of writer’s because it felt so personal to him, seeing as he’s been married to a Georgia girl since 2003 and just moved there last year:

“I think they’ve been reading my mail, because I married a girl from Georgia and we actually moved to Georgia last year.”

The song “Heatin’ Things Up,” which Turner put out in April, is also included on the album’s 11-song tracklist. He is a co-writer on three of the songs including “Unsung Hero,” “Whirlwind,” as well as the title track.
