Simonetta Lein – New Year’s Resolution With An Icon

Business, Lifestyle

Simonetta Lein is one of the most accomplished women in the world. A top model, fashion influencer, tv host, author, philanthropist and businesswoman, Simonetta has turned the Covid-19 pandemic into an opportunity to stand out in the world by creating The Simonetta Lein Show, with millions of viewers and followers. I had the chance to talk with Simonetta to recap 2020, and this is the outcome of our discussion.

What were the biggest highlights for you in 2020?

The launch of The Simonetta Lein Show and being named one of the top 5 fashion influencers in the world by Forbes.

What were the biggest challenges you faced this year?

Having started The Simonetta Lein Show a month prior to the Covid-19 crisis was so unexpected and shocking as we had to re-invent the way we were doing the show. From starting it in a studio in Times Square we were forced to shoot it from home. This Summer as many in the industry we have decided to create our own studio. It was a major assessment to be made, mentally and practically. Having also my family in Europe and knowing they have been under lockdown several times by now is not easy at all. We still keep contact every day and we stay positive and we pray and work hard.

What were your biggest influences career wise this year?

This year I kind of found inspiration in myself. My TV show gave me the opportunity to truly put out my talent, my style and episode after episode I got influenced by how things were progressing and also by the guests I have been having. I had the honor of interviewing some of the biggest names in the industry and they pushed me to keep on pushing despite the odds.

What would you have done differently if they were no pandemic?

I would have continued to go to New York from Philly, meeting people in person. I miss that, but this way I am able to reach so many people all over the world in a click as they connect via zoom with me. For now, I find it something that even though it wasn’t wanted, it  pushed me towards my limits and forced me to find opportunities in a difficult time.

Do you have a New Year’s resolution and if so what is it?

To have my family closer and to be able to be all together, healthy and happy. It seems so simple right? But this pandemic brought me to truly appreciate the simple things. Now I just look forward to meeting nice people in my career, even if they are very famous but if they don’t treat me or my team with kindness they will not be on my show. So I assure you, every guest you see on my show is actually a good human being. Onward to meet more great people and to be connected for real.

What is next for you in 2021 and beyond?

The Simonetta Lein Show will go to its third season in 2021. I am very excited and hopeful for that.

What was your most creative effort in 2020?

To maintain my media position, my show, my marriage, my health, my mental health. All at once. I definitely had to be very creative. This year was such a challenge for everyone and I feel we all need just to de-stress and look towards 2021 as a year of great changes for the better.
