Get famous, get a liquor… that’s pretty much the recipe these days…
Just about everybody in country music with a chunk of change has their own alcohol brand. Some are pretty damn good, like George Strait’s Código 1530 tequila, and others are not so good… like Florida Georgia Line’s blended peach pecan whiskey. (We drank a whole bottle for a podcast once, in the name of science… I did not end well…)
And now, Thomas Rhett has entered the chat.
Joining forces with his cousin Jeff Worn, Thomas Rhett has announced the launch of Dos Primos (two cousins in Spanish) Tequila. According to a press release, Dos Primos is a blanco tequila made from hand-harvested 100% Blue Agave sourced from estates in Los Altos and the valley area of Jalisco, Mexico. It offers earthy herbal notes, followed by hints of smooth floral and citrus.
“Our decision to create a new tequila brand grew out of just loving being with family. Jeff and I wanted to create a tequila that was expertly crafted and could be enjoyed year-round – regardless of the season or activity – with the people we care about most. Dos Primos is all about who we are and what’s important to us.
My wife and I love to enjoy tequila together and I’m excited for people to share a bottle with friends, sip it around a bonfire or enjoy it on a fishing trip, tailgate or concert. Dos Primos is about unwinding and enjoying the people and things that really matter in life.”
Dos Primos is distilled at Destiladora González Lux who make El Mayor Tequila and Tequila Exotico. No word on the price point quite yet, but Dos Primos is expected to launch this month in select markets around the country.
When it comes to tequila (and country music for that matter), nobody does it quite like King George does it. In fact, I’m pretty partial to tequilas owned by guys named George, but in the name of science, I would be happy to drink a bottle and offer my thoughts in a follow up review and/or podcast.
Send me a bottle Tom.
