NASCAR Driver Ryan Blaney Dishes On His Favorite Country Singers With Cody Jinks

Music

My man.

I’m relatively new to NASCAR, but I dig the hell out of it. Last year, when the pandemic shut down the entire world, the first (and only) sport to return was NASCAR… so I started watching it. And sure I was familiar with guys like Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, etc… but I didn’t know shit about how the sport actually worked. For starters, I thought every track was built to the exact same specifications… the same way all football fields are built the same. They’re not…

And now, I’m a full blown fan. And one of my favorite drivers? Ryan Blaney.

A Midwestern guy like myself, Ryan Blaney caught my attention pretty early. A young gun on the track, he’s poised for a big year in 2021. Plus, he seems like an all-around good dude… but then I saw his taste in country music, he had a fan for life. We’re talking GREAT taste.

In a recent episode of A Couple In With Cody JinksRyan got to talking about racing, navigating the pandemic as an athlete, and of course, music. When asked about the artists that he thinks are underrated, he absolutely nailed it:

“You guys should get more recognition than you got… I hate it when some great bands might not get the recognition they deserve. it’s a shame… nowadays the radio music is obviously more popular, but I’ve never really been a fan of that. I feel like it’s a little bit more truer music and more heartfelt, the stuff that’s not on the radio.

I’m a huge Sturgill Simpson fan, I’ve been listening to him for a while, then Tyler Childers came about. I’m a big Colter Wall fan, he’s from Canada. Those guys I listen to a lot.”

Respect.

Cody Jinks and Ryan Blaney… two of the best in their respective businesses.
