Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 168 fewer hospitalizations, 3,497 new cases and 137 new deaths as of Feb. 12

Los Angeles public health officials reported 168 fewer patients hospitalized in local hospitals, lowing the number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations to 3,604 as of Friday, Feb. 12. That’s a 55.5% decrease from the Jan. 7 high of 8,098 people hospitalized.

There were 3,497 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,161,773 as of Friday. Officials said there were 137 new fatalities linked to the coronavirus, for a total 18,789 deaths since tracking began.

A total of 1,371,718 vaccinations have been administered in the county as of Thursday.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
