Cody Johnson Unveils Rare Footage Performing For High School FFA Talent Team

Music

Born to be a star.

We all know Cody Johnson made his way to country music by way of bull riding and rodeo, it’s the entire subject of the documentary. But it wasn’t like Cody hung up the chaps and picked up a guitar for the first time.

Cody was playing as a kid, every single day, and he even used to bring his guitar to school. In fact, the first time Cody’s wife Brandi saw him play a show, she was 14 years old and Cody was playing with the FFA Talent Team (with a broken leg from bull riding).

And as the story goes, Cody’s teacher pulled him aside one day and convinced him to start a band and play for the FFA Talent Team, even though he didn’t want to.

“He was the one that really pushed me. He always told me ‘you need to be two things: you need to play country music and you need to be a cowboy.”

And thank God he did.
