PORTER RANCH — Two vehicles collided Saturday afternoon in Porter Ranch, killing a driver who ran a red light.
The collision was reported at 2:39 p.m. in the 10800 block of North Tampa Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.
One vehicle ran a red light and was broadsided by another vehicle, said Sgt. J. McGee of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Bureau. The broadsided vehicle then crashed into a pole, he said.
The deceased driver was trapped inside the vehicle that struck the pole, Humphrey said. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, he said.
The ages and genders of the drivers were not immediately available.
Some lanes of Tampa and Chatsworth Street were shut down for the investigation by the Valley Traffic Bureau.
