Coronavirus tracker: California reports 3,335 new cases, 196 new deaths as of Friday

There were 3,335 new cases of the coronavirus statewide as of Friday, bringing the total number since tracking began to 3,613,780, California public health websites show.

The 14-day average of new cases daily, 3,231, is down 92% from the Jan. 1 high of 42,268.

Also, 196 new deaths were reported Friday, for a total of 56,833 people in California who have died from the virus.

The state reported 3,197 people in hospitals with coronavirus-related infections – a decrease of 106 hospitalized patients from Thursday.
