Coronavirus: L.A. County surpasses 24,000 deaths with 179 new cases and four new deaths, May 10

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 179 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,235,797 as of Monday, May 10.

Officials reported four new deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total 24,003 deaths since tracking began.

There were 11 fewer hospitalizations reported since Thursday, reducing the official count of hospitalizations to 389.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, more than 8,241,881 vaccine doses have been administered in Los Angeles County as of Sunday, May 9.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
