Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 583 new cases and 17 new deaths, May 14

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 583 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,236,988 as of Friday, May 14.

Officials reported 17 new deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total 24,074 deaths since tracking began.

There were nine fewer hospitalizations reported since Wednesday, increasing the official count of hospitalizations to 366.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, more than 8,522,462 vaccine doses have been administered in Los Angeles County as of Thursday, May 13.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
