Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 217 new cases and nine new deaths, May 27

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 217 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,239,319 as of Thursday, May 27.

Officials reported nine new deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total 24,321 deaths since tracking began.

There were six more hospitalizations reported since Wednesday, increasing the official count of hospitalizations to 325, with 19% in ICU.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, more than 9,356,253 vaccine doses have been administered in Los Angeles County as of Wednesday.

Data posted each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
