Panorama High School said goodbye to its class of 2021 graduates at an in-person graduation ceremony on Friday, June 11 at the school’s athletic field in Panorama City. The more than 200 graduates were cheered on by their invited guests as they participated in a traditional procession and walk to receive their diplomas.

The special guest speaker was Austin Beutner, superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Beutner is leaving the position when his contract ends on June 30. LAUSD Board President Kelly Gonez joined the superintendent at the ceremony.

The school opened on Oct. 3, 2006 on the former site of the Carnation Product Testing Plant. The school site, on 18.22 acres, includes two gyms, an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts, specialty rooms including a band room, culinary arts, drama room, a dance studio and computer labs and a 1,300-seat auditorium. The “Home of the Pythons” school colors are black and gold.

It is the first and only public high school in Panorama City. The school currently has a Sports Medicine and Informational Technology Magnet. The Panorama Social Justice Leadership Magnet is scheduled to open in the fall.

The school is located at 8015 Van Nuys Blvd., Panorama City. www.panoramahs.org
