This past November Mall received the 2020 “Philanthropist Award” for his massive laptop donations to children struggling to learn during the pandemic…

You know you get famous… You get big and you work with people like Justin Bieber, and Dre… It almost becomes like the old wild west with Dillinger, a cowboy story. It’s the car coming after the famous person because they want their name out there. That’s how it is. For the last 20 years that I’ve been in Vegas, I don’t even have a speeding ticket. We all know that there are good people and bad people. Look there are cops going to jail for murdering people these days. It’s not that they were bad cops, it’s good people and bad people and it doesn’t matter who you are or what you do. If you were good, it’s going to translate to what you do and if you’re bad it’s going to translate the same way. Sometimes God wants you to take a fall so you can bounce back higher. I look at it like it’s for a reason and the future will define the reason.
That all had to be scary for you?
It was, but it made me work harder. I learned how to live as if I had fourth stage cancer. The only thing I had to do was to let the music speak to the world. I let my music live and create my music every day. That way, I had that under my belt no matter what. Nobody can take that away from me. When I make hits and win awards nobody can take that away from me. So, i’ve been working like I had an expiration date. It gave me ulcers, I had to have three blood transfusions and it stressed me out and that alone was worse than what was going to happen. In your heart and on your soul that was hard.
While doing my researchers I discovered that you are probably one of the nicest people on the planet…..
Thank you so much….I appreciate that. I’m a very good person …it’s just the picture of a rich, famous, person can hurt me now… but this is a person who’s rich by heart and has an energy… I tell people when you do stuff there are two kinds of reactions. There is a reaction from people who are miserable, and those people will judge your accomplishments with their own misery. For example, Cardi B was a stripper… You know what she wasn’t the best, but she made the best out of it. Now she’s on top of the World. That’s a happy person. That’s how you deal with stuff. If somebody says something negative about you, just say “God Bless You“ because you haven’t found happiness.
You’ve done a lot of cool community things…what are your plans for the future?
I want to get this over with and in the meantime, I just want to not think about it too much. I want to keep creating it. I want to use my past experiences to help people. I don’t want to run from it. I want to face it and use it to show people that everybody can have a second chance and, everyone can be better. I don’t want to cry about it, I want to get up and face it. It’s kind of like an alcoholic when they stand up and say they are an alcoholic…. I want to get up and say that all of the things they said about me weren’t true…..but I was in the business and here are the pros and cons… I just want to give people advice on how to become a better person based on my own experiences.
You as the artist that you are…have you had your ultimate stage fantasy?
I’ve won a lot of awards but when I started to become accomplished and win those awards, I was going through something, so I held back from actually being involved in that. I think now I’ve reached a milestone in my redemption by saying that yes, I’ve been through this and I’ve been through that, but I am making the best of it. I’m using it to my advantage to help other people gain. My main goal is to go on that stage and win that award, to tell people “Hey my life has been a journey. I’ve done things that I’m not always so proud of. Now I’m focusing on doing things that I am proud of. I’m focusing on becoming a better person and using my experience to help people not make the same mistakes that I’ve made. Thank you for the love for the music I create, which gave me a second chance in life. My music and my fans have given me the love to keep going and keep expressing my passion to the world.”
