No more survivors have been found among the rubble of the collapsed apartment block in Miami, as it emerged engineers warned of structural damage to the building three years ago.
Miami-Dade mayor Daniella Levine Cava said the top priority continues to be search and rescue, but added that deep fires below the debris were hampering efforts.
A total of 159 people are still unaccounted for, with four so far confirmed dead.
Ms Cava said a full and thorough investigation will look into the cause of the disaster and an audit will take place on surrounding buildings within the next 30 days.
An engineering report in 2018 said that the oceanfront building had “major structural damage” to a concrete structural slab below its pool deck that needed extensive repairs.
Asked about the report, Ms Cava said “we did not know about this report”.
