Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 2,023 new cases and 28 new deaths, Sept. 16

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 2,023 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,439,011 as of Thursday, Sept. 16. The total number of cases represents 14.4% of Los Angeles County’s population.

Officials reported 28 new deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total of 25,775 deaths since tracking began. The total number of deaths represents 0.26% of Los Angeles County’s population.

There were 56 fewer hospitalizations reported, bringing the offical count to 1,185.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, 67% of Los Angeles County is fully vaccinated and more than 12,402,224 vaccine doses have been administered as of Sept. 16.
