Talk about two legends.
I can’t imagine the amount of unreleased recordings of Johnny Cash that are tucked away in various places, but I love when we get to hear some.
Just today, a performance of Johnny covering Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” was released and I’m loving it.
It was recorded at a performance at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco on April 24, 1968 and it just seems like it was a magical performance top to bottom.
The entire concert is being released song by song for a project called Bear’s Sonic Journals, which is a collection of sound recordings by legendary producer Owsley Stanley.
Johnny had previously covered the song on his 1965 Orange Blossom Special album, but this is the first live version that is being officially released.
And of course, who can forget a young Post Malone (Pre Malone?) covering the song too.
