The city and county of Los Angeles now observe, as of 2017, Indigenous Peoples Day in October instead of Columbus Day. The federal government observes Columbus Day.
Government offices – Los Angeles city and county and national – and superior courts and libraries (Los Angeles Public Library, www.lapl.org/holiday-closures; Los Angeles County Public Library, lacounty.gov/government/about-la-county/county-holidays/) are normally closed for Indigenous Peoples Day or Columbus Day holiday. Los Angeles Unified School District schools are open, however (bit.ly/3F7vJYH).
The state of California does not observe Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day as a state holiday (www.sos.ca.gov/state-holidays).

Banks: Most banks are closed. Financial markets are open. Bond markets are closed.

Transit: Buses and subway services in Los Angeles run on a regular schedule (www.metro.net). Metrolink trains run on a regular schedule (www.metrolinktrains.com).
