A Seven Song Introduction To Hannah Dasher – Because You’re Gonna Love Her

Music

H to the Damn to the D.

I’ve had Hannah Dasher’s major-label debut EP, The Half Record, on repeat for awhile now.

And we’ve posted a few articles about Hannah lately, and as I look through the comments I always see people who are discovering her for the first time, usually something along the lines of “This is awesome, how have I never heard of her before?”

Well I figured I should do my part to fix that. So if you’re not familiar with Hannah Damn Dasher, let me introduce you – because I think you’re gonna love her.

Even if you haven’t heard Hannah’s music, you may have seen her on TikTok, where her wisecracking “Stand By Your Pan” cooking videos have helped her rack up over a million followers.

But Hannah’s way more than just a TikTok star.

A native of Georgia, Hannah started out playing Patsy Cline in a tribute show in her hometown of Savannah (and she learned a thing or two from impersonating Patsy – so when she calls you “Hoss,” you’ll know where she got it from).

And after graduating with her PR degree from the University of Georgia, Hannah moved to Nashville and took a job at Bass Pro Shop selling fishing boats and outboard motors just a few steps from the Grand Ole Opry.

Her time at Bass Pro Shops got cut short though, when she was fired for writing songs on the job – but it worked out for her when Brad Paisley cut one of her songs for his 2017 album Love and War. (She also co-wrote “LA” on Lainey Wilson’s debut album that was released in February).

Earlier this year, Hannah signed with Sony Music Nashville, and her debut EP The Half Record was released back in July.

With her clever songwriting and electric personality, Hannah’s well on her way to becoming a superstar. So if you need some help diving into her catalog, here are a few songs to get you started:

“You’re Gonna Love Me”

If you want to get to know Hannah, she lays it all out there with this one. If you’re a fan of Alan Jackson’s mullet and things that are made in the USA, then Hannah Dasher might just be for you.

“Leave This Bar”

 “Stoned Age”

Throwing it back to the 70’s – or as Hannah calls it, the “Stoned Age.”

 “1990’s Heartbreak”

“Shoes”

Hannah’s firecracker personality or her big hair might be the first thing you notice about her, but make no mistake: Her songwriting is what will keep you coming back for more.

One of my favorites from The Half Record is “Shoes,” which sounds like it could have been written by a guy like Eric Church (who Hannah cites as one of her favorite artists) with its clever wordplay and vulnerability over trying to fix a broken relationship.

“Drinkin’ Out Loud”

Who can’t relate to a song about losing your filter after drinking a few?

“Left Right”

A cleverly written reminder to the guys who need to get their shit together. (So pretty much all of us).

So there you have it. That’s a pretty good start to get you into Hannah’s music.

Now we just need her to drop “The Whole Record.”
