Coronavirus: L.A. County reported 742 new cases and 16 more deaths, Oct. 12

Los Angeles County public health officials reported 742 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 1,472,419 as of Monday, Oct. 12. The total number of cases represents 14.6% of Los Angeles County’s population.

Officials reported 16 more deaths linked to the coronavirus, for a total of 26,336 deaths since tracking began. The total number of deaths represents 0.26% of Los Angeles County’s population.

There were 11 more hospitalizations reported since Monday, raising the offical count to 667.

According to the California Department of Public Health’s vaccines dashboard, 70% of Los Angeles County is fully vaccinated and more than 13,030,519 vaccine doses have been administered as of Oct. 12.
