Helicopters — law enforcement, fire, military and private — were the focus at the 2021 American Heroes Air Show on Saturday, Nov. 13 at Hansen Dam Recreation Center in Lake View Terrace.
The only-helicopters event also included a career and recruiting expo, an emergency preparedness fair and opportunities to take a ride in a helicopter. The public had the chance to get close-up looks at static displays of helicopters and also to ask questions from pilots and crew members.
There were aerial demonstrations of hoist rescues and water dropping for fires. Thanks to Professional Cars International there was a “Rollin’ to the Rescue” procession of restored vintage emergency, fire and police vehicles that got the crowd’s attention as they arrived at the venue with lights and sirens.
The Los Angeles United States Citizenship and Immigration Services hosted a naturalization ceremony for new citizens which has been a memorable tradition of the air show.
