Charles Wesley Godwin is on the move folks, and it’s only a matter of time before he’s a household name.
He recently joined the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast, and talked everything from how he got his start, growing up in West Virginia, his new album How The Mighty Fall, and so much more.
He has a pretty interesting story, as he didn’t even start playing music until he was in his 20s, and talks about how thankful he was to find his one God-given talent with music.
However, one of the most intriguing segments on the podcast was when Godwin discussed his thoughts on Zach Bryan, who he’s recently been touring with.
By now, most of us are pretty familiar with the meteoric rise of Zach Bryan, but Charles went as far to compare him to the Beatlemania of the early ’60s:
“My dad has told me throughout my life about what it was like when The Beatles came to America. And, just the die hard fandom that they had.
I’m here to say, and I’ll die on this mountain, I think Zach Bryan… like the energy that his fans have for him… it’s gotta be like some modern day version of that.
The whole thing is crazy. It’s his first tour ever, and he’s selling out rooms all across the country, every single one between 1,500 and 5,000 seaters. Ya know, his first tour. And everybody in the crowd knows every single word… I’ve never seen anything like it.
When he steps out, and him and his guys go on stage and they’re about to start their show, you feel like you need hearing protection. Like, it is electric. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
An insane level of praise for a guy who is on his first real tour, who just started doing music full time, and has barely seen the inside of a professional recording studio.
But here’s the thing… he ain’t wrong.
To echo Wes in the podcast, if there’s a more compelling story in all of country music right now, I don’t know what it is.
I can’t wait to see what the future holds for both of these artists.
