False alarm…
It looks like we’re gonna have to wait a couple more weeks for “Flower Shops”.
Morgan Wallen and Ernest have been teasing the new song for a while now, playing it at quite a few live shows together after Morgan debuted it himself at Loser’s in Nashville over the summer.
A good old fashioned country heartbreaker, the track was inspired by George Jones’ classic “A Good Year For The Roses,” and based on the new teaser, it sounds like it could easily be the most traditionally country-sounding song they’ve ever released.
Ernest co-wrote the song with two of Morgan’s other frequent collaborators, Ben Burgess and Mark Holman.
Ernest confirmed on Instagram that the song is set to drop on December 31st:
“NOW you know…. 12.31.21 ….let’s bring in the new year with some flowers….pre save available now…be the first.”
Here’s Morgan and Ernest singing the song together a few weeks back if you haven’t heard it yet:
And while we’re talking about Ol’ Possum, he recorded “A Good Year For The Roses” with Alan Jackson in 1994 and it’s FIRE.
