Dec. 11

Las Mañanitas musical tribute and Mass for Our Lady of Guadalupe: The feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dec. 12, gets an early start with indigenous and folkloric dance performances, veneration of the relic of the tilma, or cape, of St. Juan Diego – on which the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared miraculously 490 years ago in Mexico – and seasonal treats in the plaza outside of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, 6 p.m. The celebration program, in Spanish, continues inside the cathedral with a special Rosary and a performance by Mariachi Lindas Mexicanas, 10 p.m., that in turn is followed by guest singers serenading the Virgin with the song “Las Mañanitas” at 11 p.m. A midnight Mass is celebrated by Archbishop José H.
