Turnpike Troubadours Address Ticket Demand For Upcoming Red Rocks Shows

Music

The Turnpike Troubadours recently announced TWO upcoming shows at the stunning Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, next year.

In light of their recent announcement that they’re officially BACK together, it’s likely the first of many more live show announcements, with an entire tour announcement expected to come sometime in the next few months.

It’s easily the hottest ticket in country music for 2022, which means everybody and their momma wants to get their hands on one or two.

Unfortunately though, with the way ticket sales work these days, it’s all too easy for some random bot or scalper on the internet to buy up tons of tickets at once when they go on sale, and then resell them for astronomical prices that no one should ever pay to go to a concert through a secondary market.

Seriously, some of the resell tickets for the first Red Rocks show were going for well over $1,000 a ticket, after originally being set in a much more reasonable price range of $50-80 per ticket through the venue website and selling out almost immediately.

The whole fiasco left many people on Twitter wondering if anyone even got tickets at all:

The band posted a statement addressing the problem today to their social channels, saying that they’re aware of what’s going on and are doing everything they can to make it better for real fans to buy reasonably priced tickets on this go around:

“The demand for tickets to our Red Rocks shows have been overwhelming, but we want to let you know that we hear you about ticket resellers and that we are doing what we can to address the issue.

To get as many fans a chance at tickets as possible, we’re going to limit purchases for the Sunday Red Rocks show to four tickets per order.

We’re working with AXS, AEG Presents and Red Rocks Amphitheater to identify bots and cancel tickets that were purchased fraudulently and get them back to fans, however there are far more people wanting to come to the shows than the venue can accomodate.”

Tickets go on sale for the second show this Friday, and while there will still be plenty of disappointed fans without tickets due to the sheer volume of demand regardless of the bots and scalpers, hopefully more people have a fair shot at it this time.

At the end of the day though, it’s pretty awesome to see the kind of demand that a band as good as Turnpike is drawing right now… they definitely deserve it.

Good luck, y’all.
