For my money, Brothers Osborne’s 2020 Skeletons album was one of the best of the year.
The Grammy-nominated album has so much grit and authenticity to it, and it shines through on jams like “I’m Not For Everyone,” “Skeletons,” “Back On The Bottle,” along with so many others.
With that being said, the country duo dropped a deluxe edition of Skeletons today, adding new songs “Headstone,” “Midnight Rider’s Prayer,” as well as their previously released 2021 hit “Younger Me,” which was Grammy nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
“Younger Me” is a song of reflection from lead singer TJ Osborne, listing everything he would have told his younger self.
He said at last year’s CMA Awards:
“For many years I would watch this show, year after year, and I always thought how incredible it’d be and I’d dream of being here on this stage, and there were so many things that were so many hurdles for me.
And I always truthfully felt like it would never be possible because of my sexuality to be here.”
“Headstone,” on the other hand, is a hard-charging anthem with an absolutely killer guitar track:
And “Midnight Rider’s Prayer” is a rocking troubadour’s ballad that samples the classic Willie Nelson tune, “On the Road Again.”
