Downtown San Pedro leaders on Wednesday, Jan. 26, unveiled a new website that is more streamlined and user-friendly while still reflecting the many changes ongoing in the historic port shopping district.

The new site — discoversanpedro.org — is part of an ongoing rebranding process for the area. It was created in collaboration with The Bruxton Group, a Santa Monica design firm, and features connections to the area’s history, along with a calendar of events, and information on restaurants, retail businesses and the Waterfront Arts District.

There is also a section on future developments, including the West Harbor waterfront attraction and AltaSea.

“Our new website will be the new digital face of Discover San Pedro,” said Tim McOsker, president of the Board of Directors for the San Pedro Business Improvement District, which sponsored the rebranding process.

The new site replaces the former site, which had the same web address and was created in 2019. Before that, there was the Sanpedrobid.com site created in 2009.

The new site features upgraded categories for visitors, along with improved navigation.

Features include:

  • A new “Discovery” search feature showcasing the site’s content.
  • A more accessible design.
  • Business, retail and restaurant directories.
  • A San Pedro Arts District page.
  • Calendar of events.
  • Future developments coming to San Pedro.

The site also includes an “About Us” section that lists current Business Improvement District board members and meeting agendas.

The site is part of a multiphased “brand refresh” for the downtown and waterfront area, featuring images and information that captures “the historic seaside community’s bold, spirited and adventurous personality,” according to a news release.

Also featured on the website is an updated logo, which features an anchor and other images reflecting the town’s nautical history and fishing industries.

Bob Ianessa, executive director of the Business Improvement District, said Wednesday’s website release will build on the town’s 16 new outdoor dining platforms and help usher in the spring and summer months.

The site was developed over the course of six months.
