If you ain’t familiar yet, let me introduce you to the next Appalachian country music great, Logan Halstead.
The 18-year-old singer from Boone County, West Virginia writes lyrics that are lightyears beyond his age, and you can’t help but compare his sound to other Appalachian greats like Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Charles Wesley Godwin, and many others who are keeping that traditional folk country sound alive.
Although he still hasn’t officially recorded/released any original music yet, Logan’s posted a number of live acoustic videos of songs he’s written, like “Dark Black Coal,” and the hilarious “Pussy In Paintsville,” while also doing kickass covers.
And for his latest one, OurVinyl Sessions shared a video of Logan covering “1952 Vincent Black Lightning,” originally written and record by English singer-songwriter and guitarist Richard Thompson back in 1991.
Sitting in front of a barn and around a campfire, with a grey-skied, tree-filled backdrop, Logan covers the song to a tee.
