I’ve always been a big fan of Ryan Bingham.
Ever since I first discovered his music in Crazy Heart, and then subsequently dove into Mescalito, and the rest of the catalog along the way, I’m continually impressed by everything he does.
But it’s not just me, even his castmates on the hit series Yellowstone think he’s a total badass. Or as Jimmy (played by Jefferson White), an amazing triple threat.
“Ryan Bingham is an amazing triple threat. He’s an incredible actor, obviously a great musician, but he’s also and incredible cowboy.”
The music is obvious, the acting chops are in plain sight, but did you know that Ryan (a New Mexico native) actually grew up roping and riding all over Texas?
He even landed a job at Disney World in Paris, France, riding in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show.
So when he stepped on the set of Yellowstone, he was a natural.
Watch Ryan perform “All Choked Up Again” from the Dutton Ranch bunkhouse, one of the most captivating scenes from the first season of the show.
In this episode, the new ranch hand Walker sits down with his guitar to pick on a song for the rest of the fellas in the bunkhouse. Before he begins he asks if they want to hear a happy song or a sad song.
When they say “happy,” he performs “All Choked Up Again.”
“Well, if that’s your happy…don’t you ever play me goddamn sad.”
Helluva scene.
Yellowstone The Soundtrack: Ranking The Best Songs From Every Season
Oh, we’re doing it people…
With the highly-anticipated Yellowstone Season 4 finale in the rearview mirror, and another glorious season of Yellowstone in the books, we’re going to try and tackle the impossible task of ranking the best songs from every season.
Some have argued that this past season wasn’t quite as good as the others, and many also didn’t particularly think the Season 4 finale was as exciting as the previous ones. And while that’s debatable, there’s no doubt in my mind that the music from this season was just as good as ever.
Expertly curated by series creator Taylor Sheridan, as well as music supervisor Andrea von Foerster, Yellowstone unquestionably has the greatest soundtrack in the history of television.
In Season 4, we saw the likes of Shane Smith & the Saints, Colter Wall, Blackberry Smoke, Hailey Whitters, Ryan Bingham, John Prine, Willie Nelson, Cody Johnson, Jason Isbell, and more.
So without further ado, let’s count it down.
From the pilot episode, all the way up to the Season 4 finale, the soundtrack of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone has been absolutely incredible. The show itself is great too, but the soundtrack is really what ties it all together for me.
The music of Whiskey Myers is featured prominently throughout the series, as well as Ryan Bingham (who stars in the show), but along with Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall, Turnpike Troubadours and more, I honestly don’t think I could draw it up any better.
So that being said, let’s take a look back at some of the highlights from each season.
Season 1
5. “Me and the Whiskey” – Whitey Morgan and the 78’s
4. “Keep the Wolves Away” – Uncle Lucius
3. “Tennessee Whiskey” – Chris Stapleton
2. “All Choked Up Again” – Ryan Bingham
