Dolly Parton is officially headed to the big screen.
Her recent book she co-authored with James Patterson, Run, Rose, Run, is being turned into a film by producers Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter.
Set to be created by Reese’s production company, Hello Sunshine, Dolly officially confirmed that it’s really happening, and Sony pictures will also be part of the movie production:

Reese had previously confirmed that a project was in the works, saying that she can’t wait to work with one of her heroes in Dolly:

Beyond her magnetic presence as an artist and performer, she is one of the greatest songwriters and storytellers of our time.

Though nothing has been confirmed in terms of casting, a release date or any other specifics, Dolly has said before that she wants to play the character of Ruthanna, the retired country music icon voiced by Dolly in the audiobook of the novel, so it’s likely we’ll get to see her on the big screen for this movie.
Of course, Dolly has starred in plenty of other movies before, including some absolute classics like 9 to 5, Steel Magnolias and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
Dolly also released an album to go along with the novel you’re likely to hear in the films soundtrack, which include duets with Joe Nichols and Ben Haggard.
