Annual Film It West Covina Festival on tap for Aug. 4 at Civic Center

California

The annual Film It West Covina Festival is on tap for Thursday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at West Covina Civic Center, and aspiring student filmmakers will be showcasing their short films with the chance of winning awards and getting other networking opportunities.

The festival will include two student bands from West Covina — Irrationality and Los Socios — and industry experts that include directors, producers and actors and more.

The film showcase and awards part of the program is set to begin at 7:50 p.m. Besides cash prizes for the winners, the school — either Edgewood High or West Covina High — with the most film submissions also receives a cash prize.

Beginning in early May, filmmakers had two months to submit their films. This year’s theme is “Creativity Unleashed.”

Everyone who submitted a film will receive a free swag bag that includes a film-it t-shirt and other good stuff.

There is no charge to attend the event, which is in its fourth year.
