Tyler Childers, Dan Auerbach And More To Play John Anderson Tribute Night At The Grand Ole Opry

Music

Talk about paying homage to a country music living legend.

Earlier this year, it was announced that a John Anderson tribute album was in the works, titled Something Borrowed, Something New: A Tribute To John Anderson, and would feature the likes of Brothers Osborne, Tyler Childers, Eric Church, Brent Cobb, Luke Combs, Sierra Ferrell, Sierra Hull, Jamey Johnson, Ashley McBryde, Del McCoury, John Prine, Nathaniel Rateliff, Sturgill Simpson, and Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, dropping on August 5th.

Needless to say, the Dan Auerbach produced album looks like it’s shaping up to a tribute album for the ages, and Sierra Ferrell already gave us a taste of the fun with the release of “Years.”

However, the new project isn’t the only tribute Anderson will receive this year, as the Grand Ole Opry announced a John Anderson tribute night on August 6th, to celebrate the release of the new album.

So far, Tyler Childers, Dan Auerbach, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Sierra Hull, Elizabeth Cook, and more are scheduled to play for the tribute night.

The celebration can be watched on Opry Live on Circle Television, and tickets are on sale now.

It’s awesome to see John Anderson get some well deserved recognition, as the guy was a country music mainstay throughout the ’80s and ’90s, and has even put out new music as recently as 2020.

Meanwhile, check out one of my early favorites from the upcoming tribute album, Something Borrowed, Something New.
