The Burbank Police Department hosted a National Night Out family event on Tuesday evening at Johnny Carson Park on Bob Hope Drive to strengthen mutual ties between the department and the public.
The community had the opportunity to meet-and-greet Burbank police officers and ask questions about crime and safety and view police vehicles and helicopter displays.
National Night Out, Aug. 2 this year, brings law enforcement officers, emergency personnel and the public together to learn about neighborhood crime, crime prevention tips, safety at home and creating neighborhood watch groups while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. People may create an event in their neighborhood or meet up at a park or other venue.
One symbol of National Night Out is to turn on your front porch light as a symbol of public awareness for the annual event.
The Burbank event, one of many in the San Fernando Valley, included Burbank elected officials and community leaders, community information exhibits, family activities, games, refreshments and giveaways.
