Dolly Parton React To Artists Covering Her Most Iconic Country Songs

Music

It is no secret that Dolly Parton has a heart of gold.

She has numerous philanthropic efforts, from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to donating money during the pandemic, she loves giving back.

This ideology carries through to building other musicians up as well.

Dolly sat down the Glamour Magazine back in 2020 to react to some artists covering a few of her biggest hits.

“I’m honored, always, to hear people record my songs and hear them done different ways. It’s just fun and exciting to a songwriter to hear songs done different.”

Hearing Parton gives feedback to these artists warms your heart.

After Dolly gave her two cents on the performances, they showed the artists what she said. Most of them are shocked and left speechless hearing that Parton saw their videos.

It is clear that it not only made their life, but they also share how much of an inspiration and role model Parton has been for them in their journey.

One of the artists is Warner Music Nashville’s Ian Munsick.

“You have a beautiful voice; you can really get up there,” she notes when watching Ian Munsick cover “Hard Candy Christmas.”

“Well, certainly your version is different than mine because you were just playing and flogging that guitar, and you’re pretty good on that too.

It’s a song that you kind of personalize. I was in the movie (singing it), of course…..and so I had a lot of stuff going on because it was a big move.

But, I like how you just brought it in, sit down there at the fireplace, or wherever you were sitting, just playing the guitar, feeling it, and singing it.”

It is so refreshing to hear so many renditions of her songs in different styles of music and that she loves it.

“As a songwriter, or as a singer, it makes a lot when other people kind of pay tribute to you like that,” she says in her final thoughts.

“You brought me a lot of joy today….I wish you the best of luck in your career.”

Dolly Parton repeatedly proves that she is a prized gem not only as an artist but also as a person.
