The media was invited to check out the on-the-ground displays and exhibits on Thursday, Aug.18 for this weekend’s 41st Wings Over Camarillo air show.
The air show’s theme this year is “Women in Aviation.” The Ventura Chapter of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots presents an exhibit “Notable Women in Aviation” on view in the Commemorative Air Force Museum hangar at the airport.
The 2022 grand marshals are Cmdr. Colette B. Lazenka, commander of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 30 at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, and Martha Phillips, 2012-2016 president of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots and a member of the group’s Ventura Chapter.
The popular air show includes aerobatic performances, a classic car and motorcycle show, vintage and present-day military aircraft display, a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Pavilion that presents robotics and what’s new in aviation and aerospace as it relates to those disciplines, and an opportunity to talk to veteran pilots, aircrew and mechanics about their military service.
