Aviation enthusiasts were thrilled by the aerobatics on Saturday during the Wings Over Camarillo air show. The theme for this year’s show was “Women in Aviation.”
The Ventura County Chapter of the Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots curated an exhibit on “Notable Women in Aviation” that included information on trailblazing pilots Florence “Pancho” Barnes, Jacqueline “Jackie” Cochran, Bessie Coleman, Raymonde De Laroche, Amelia Earhart and Phoebe Omlie.
The popular air show included aerobatic performances, a classic car and motorcycle show, vintage and present-day military aircraft display, a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Pavilion that presented robotics and what’s new in aviation and aerospace as it relates to those disciplines, and an opportunity to talk to veteran pilots, aircrew and mechanics about their military service.
