California
A mural on San Fernando Road in Pacoima depicts Mutimtu Pakovit, Pakoinga Woman, symbolizing a woman from the Fernandeno Tataviam Band of Mission Indians. Pacoima is one of many sites in the San Fernando Valley area of villages of the original inhabitants of the ancestors of the Fernandeno Tataviam people (tataviam-nsn.us). The mural, made by muralist Levi Ponce and his team of street artists and funded through Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez’ office, was unveiled on Monday, Nov. 25, 2019.
