Ya gotta love a good cover.
It’s no secret that Flatland Cavalry has been lighting it up over the past couple of years, and are quickly making a name for themselves as one of the best country bands in the game right now.
Their saying “easy on the ears, heavy on the heart” rings true, as their music will have you feeling every drop of emotion you’ve got at the hands of frontman Cleto Cordero’s songwriting.
Flatland proved it even more with the release of their latest EP, Songs To Keep You Warm, the ideal group of songs to blast on the speaker while sitting by the fireplace, maybe a bourbon in hand.
With that being said, the group knows how to cover a damn good country song.
Flatland has often played the Turnpike Troubadours’ “Long Hot Summer Day” during encores, and has quickly become a fan favorite at their shows.
The group recently played a show at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and of course, considering Turnpike is from the state, Flatland had to throw in a few more covers in there.
And one of those covers?
No other than “Diamonds & Gasoline,” the title track to Turnpike’s 2010 album.
Needless to say, ol’ Cleto did a great job covering this one.
