Teams of volunteers at the West Valley Food Pantry, some of whom help out three to four days a week, keep the distribution of food donations running smoothly for the pantry clients’ drive-through pickup line in Woodland Hills five days a week.
The pantry at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Woodland Hills began in 1975 in a closet in the church’s kitchen. The pantry evolved in 1985 to a coalition of West San Fernando Valley churches and synagogues offering support.
Besides religious organizations, the San Fernando Valley Chapter of the National Charity League is one of the main secular supporters offering volunteers and donations.
