Morgan Wallen scored his 8th career #1 last week.

“Thought You Should Know,” which was a co-write by Miranda Lambert along with Nicolle Galyon, topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart, as well as Mediabase this week, which are the two charts labels use to officially track their songs performance.

The song is also featured on the tracklist for Morgan’s forthcoming massive 36-song album, One Thing At A Time.

And co-writer Miranda took to Instagram today to congratulate Morgan on another #1 hit, adding that it’s the first #1 song she’s ever had as a writer, which actually really surprised me to hear:

“Congrats @morganwallen on your number 1 song ‘Thought You Should Know.’ Proud to be a writer on a song about your mama!

This is the first number 1 song I’ve ever had as a writer. We did good that day y’all. Cheers friends. @nicatnitemusic.”

Miranda has a handful of #1’s under her belt for her own songs, as well as a few features, with the most recent being “Bluebird” in 2020.

At the time, it was her first radio chart-topper in six years (8 on Billboard), and she hasn’t had much luck at radio since then.

So, needless to say, it’s cool for her to finally score a radio hit purely as a songwriter:

A tribute to his mama Lesli, “Thought You Should Know” was actually released on Mother’s Day last year, where Morgan admits that he’s been making some bad decisions and chasing things he shouldn’t, and wants to reassure her that “all those prayers… finally made their way through.”

The music video also includes some adorable home videos of Morgan with his mom when he was a little boy, showing some sweet moments from his childhood growing up in east Tennessee, and Lesli actually makes an appearance in it, as well.

And while, there’s certainly a lot of songs to pick from in terms of what will be his next single at country radio, and “One Thing at a Time” is already charting on Billboard, “Last Night” has already been putting up some crazy streaming numbers, so we’ll have to wait and see what they choose next.
