LET’S GO.
The news is finally out, and 49 Winchester just announced that they’re slated to open for none other than superstar Luke Combs on the European leg of his forthcoming world tour, starting at the end of September.
The band shared the news in a post on Instagram, saying it’s “the biggest thing to ever happen to 49,” and it really couldn’t be a better pairing between the southwest Virginia band and North Carolina native Luke, who has been an outspoken supporter of them for quite some time now.
You’ll see Luke rocking their shirts pretty often, and he even wore one for a feature on Rolling Stone last summer, so it’s really damn cool to see him bringing them along on tour and introducing them to a whole new market of fans.
Luke has been the thing in mainstream country for quite a few years now, and he could’ve taken anybody with him on this tour, so it’s incredible that he chose and independent band like 49 to open a large chunk of his shows.
They’ll be joining him overseas along with Ray Fulcher, Drew Parker and James McNair.
Needles to say, these will be some absolutely spectacular concerts, with two of the best acts in country music on one bill… and I have to say, I’m extremely jealous of all the European fans who will get to witness it in person:
“Well, here it is. The biggest thing ever to happen to 49, and the hardest secret to keep. So incredibly honored to join our brother @lukecombs on the European leg of his 2023 World Tour! 🌍
Luke is someone whose music & approach we’ve admired for years, & his support has meant everything to a band like ours. Beyond grateful and excited to hit the road with him this fall, and take the 49 show worldwide on the biggest stages of our career 🏟 See y’all across the pond!”
Hopefully we’ll at least get to see a duet or some sort of collab during their run, too:
49 Winchester had what some would call a breakout year last year, from making their Grand Ole Opry debut, to appearing on late night TV for the first time, and even having their song “Last Call” featured on Yellowstone, in addition to dropping their Fortune Favors the Bold album in May.
And it felt like it would be hard to top all of that in 2023, but safe to say at this point already, I think they somehow just might pull it off…
