6 Times Miley Cyrus Covered The Hell Out Of Some Country Songs

Music

Miley Cyrus has never been shy about doing things her own way, and sometimes, that includes showing off her country roots.

Growing up near Nashville with Billy Ray Cyrus as her father, not to mention the legendary Dolly Parton as her Godmother, Miley is more than vocal about the influence her country upbringing has had on her life, as well as her music. Her and Dolly even teamed up at the start of this year by covering a bunch of country classics during Miley’s New Year’s Eve Special

And with Morgan Wallen expressing the desire to collaborate with her on a song or two, and the fact that speeding up a Morgan song makes it sound like Miley, there’s no better time to take a look back at some of Miley’s best country covers.

6. “Love Is Like A Butterfly” – Dolly Parton

While Miley is better known for covering a different Dolly Parton song (keep reading), Miley brought out a Dolly deep cut from 1974 on her Bangerz Tour in 2014.

Breaking this out after catching a bra is a full out rock star move…

5. “Walking in Memphis” – Marc Cohn/Lonestar

At the Beale Street Music Festival in 2019, Miley joined Marc Cohn for a duet of the iconic Memphis theme song. An awesome moment singing it while actually on Beale Street and Miley’s harmonies took it to another level.

Would love to hear this as a solo Miley performance so she can climb the ladder and crush those high notes. Maybe one day.

4. “It Ain’t Me Babe” – Bob Dylan/Johnny Cash

Originally by Bob Dylan but popularized by The Man in Black, Miley also sang this on her 2014 Bangerz Tour.

She has the deep voice to fill the shoes of Cash and opens the door to her younger generation of fans with her own flair.

3. “A Boy Named Sue” – Johnny Cash

In nothing but a T-Shirt, shoes and underwear (baller), Miley did Johnny Cash justice with an energetic performance of the great coming of age song, once again on her 2014 Bangerz Tour.

Did her fans have any idea what was going on? Nope, but hey, you do you, Miley, cause that was awesome.

2. “Man, I Feel Like A Woman” – Shania Twain

Who doesn’t love some Shania? Miley and “Team Miley” from Season 13 (2017) of The Voice rocked out to the legendary girl’s jam, but Miley stole the show. That’s why she’s the coach, folks…

1. “Jolene” – Dolly Parton

Obviously.

This is one of the best performances of any song, any genre, all-time. No words can really describe it, so just sit back and enjoy the greatness from way back in 2012.
