At the blessing of the animals held Saturday, April 1, at Orcas Park in Sylmar, Los Angeles Animal Services provided pet registration, microchipping, vaccinations and adoptions. All animals were welcome if on a leash or in a carrier. Pet pals who couldn’t attend were blessed using their photo.
The interfaith event was presented by the office of Los Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez.
If you missed Saturday’s event, a blessing of the animals will be held at 2-3 p.m. on April 8, 2-3 p.m. on Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles. Archbishop José H. Gomez is scheduled to offer the blessings. This is an all faiths and all animals event. Pets must be properly restrained on a leash or in a carrier. As an alternative, bring a photo of your pet to be blessed.
The line forms at 1 p.m. on April 8 in front of the Pico House at 424 N. Main St., L.A. The event is on Main Street between Arcadia Street and East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue. www.olveraevents.com/blessing-of-animals-olvera-street. Entertainment is scheduled for noon-4 p.m on Olvera Street.
