It was a cool spring day for the second annual Valley Asian Cultural Festival on Saturday, May 6, at Pierce College in Woodland Hills. The West Valley-Warner Center Chamber of Commerce invited the public to explore art and cultural displays, and to enjoy a memorable lion dance, a fashion show, and music and dance performances in honor of May’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Asian and Pacific Islander cuisine choices from food trucks and vendors were a highlight, and it was an opportunity to try something new, food-wise. Children’s activities kept the young busy when they weren’t watching the performances or trying a savory or sweet treat.
Shopping — maybe to find mom something unique for Mother’s Day on May 14 — was also part of the event that ran from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Rocky Young Park on the college campus.
Sponsors also included Pierce College, the office of Los Angeles City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, Motion Picture & Television Fund and Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center.
