Go Behind The Scenes Of Megan Moroney’s Grand Ole Opry Debut

Music

The girl everyone is talking about right now.

The Georgia peach, Megan Moroney, made her Grand Ole Opry debut in February, and the behind-the-scenes footage is here leading up to stepping into the circle.

“I love country music & I’ll never get over last night. Thank you, Opry.”

She shared on Instagram after the memorable evening.

“In 2014, I went and saw the Grand Ole Opry when it was at the Ryman. I didn’t even dream of being on stage when we were sitting at that show because I didn’t even think that was in the realm of things that could happen.

I was going to school to be an accountant.”

The emotional backstory of Moroney of growing up in a musical household instilled her love for music. During her years at the University of Georgia, she was known as ‘the country singer’ among her sorority.

After opening a show at the historic Georgia Theatre for Chase Rice, she was bitten by the performance bug and changed her career trajectory to pursue music fully.

Fast forward to after her graduation, she moved to Nashville, mid-pandemic.

“Everything was pretty much closed. I spent a lot of the first year and a half strictly writing.

There weren’t even writers’ rounds to play. I actually played my first show in Nashville a year after I moved.”

Once she started to turn heads with her songwriting and raspy vocals, Megan quickly became a force to be reckoned with.

Jamey Johnson, who Megan toured with, had the honor of delivering the news to Megan that she was being asked to perform at the Opry.

“I had to stop myself from crying. It’s just a special feeling.”

She shared about looking into the crowd during her performance.

The first time stepping into that circle is a special moment for any artist, and tears are often a common factor on this night. Almost disbelief that they are getting to experience a moment that for so long seemed like a dream.

Megan Moroney is fully in her Lucky era, and I am here for it.
