The success that Morgan Wade has experienced just as she’s started her country music career is nothing short of crazy, which makes the name of her upcoming album Psychopath so fitting.
The Virginia native burst onto the scene and has quickly become one of country music’s brightest stars. In her short career, she has been nominated for ACM’s New Female Artist of the Year, CMT’s Breakthrough Female Video of the Year, and the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Act of the Year.
Wade hit the ground running with her 2021 LP release Reckless, which was about as honest and authentic as it gets in country music. It’s rare to see an artist open up their country music career with such flare and raw emotion, but Morgan Wade continues to prove that she’s not like anyone else.
Reckless’s single “Wilder Days” had staying power in the U.S. Top 30 and also performed well on UK radio charts upon its release. Wade’s first LP introduced herself to the world, but Psychopath (which releases August 25th) promises to make the up-and-coming artist into a household name.
The album’s title track, which was just releases today, gives a glimpse into an album that will surely knock down the doors of country music.
Wade explains:
“Regardless of what people say about ‘Psychopath,’ I’m proud because I feel like it showcases where I’m at with my second album.
I have no choice but to be authentic. And I have to feel what I feel. And right now, I’m really feeling the music.”
The song itself acts as a message about being deeply engrossed within a newly developed relationship, and in true Morgan Wade fashion, she doesn’t hold back at all.
Wade, in regards to the title track, adds:
“It’s like ‘What the hell was I doing before I met you? I don’t even f***ing know!’
When you look at the title, you don’t assume that’s a love song. But it is. I kinda dig that.”
Give the abstract love song “Psychopath” a listen:
Wade has been on the road for her headlining “NO SIGNS OF SLOWING DOWN TOUR” and is currently in the middle a sold-out headline tour in the United Kingdom.
Morgan has plans to join Eric Church and the Turnpike Troubadours on their respective tours, while she is also set to make appearances at Lollapalooza, Railbird, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits, among other big-name festivals this summer.
