Colin Stough Sings Chris Stapleton’s “Either Way” During ‘American Idol’ Finale

Music

The American Idol Finale is here.

We have been falling in love with contestant Colin Stough all season long. From his standout audition performing Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” to covering Whiskey Myer’s “Stone” and previously laying down a great Chris Stapleton cover, Stough has proven he is a killer performer.

His raspy vocals and killer vocal range are the perfect sound among country fans. But, outside of his vocals, we have seen him evolve as an artist over the season. He took traditional pop songs and put his take on them, showing off his artistry.

In the season’s final performance, Stough delivers a stellar performance of Chris Stapleton’s “Either Way.” Stough took on the challenge of covering Stapleton earlier this season, knocked it out of the park, and decided to leave a lasting impression by doing another cover.

The Mississippi native hit the deep bellowing notes in the “Either Way” verses and let it rip during the chorus. He delivers each line with power, emotion and nails every single note.

Written by Chris Stapleton, alongside Tim James and Kendell Marvel, it was is the first single off Stapleton’s 2017 album From A Room: Volume 1. The Grammy-winning tune was first recorded by Lee Ann Womack for her 2008 album Call Me Crazy.

Colin Stough has been a pleasure to watch over this past season and has shined a bright light on country music on national television.
