Famous Hollywood tough guy Danny Trejo has a sweet tooth.
On Friday, June 2, he celebrated National Doughnut Day with fans by bringing 200 doughnuts from his Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts shop to Madame Tussauds Hollywood Wax Museum on Hollywood Boulevard.
At the museum’s entrance, Trejo took time to pose for photos with fans in front of a wax figure replica of — himself. During the two-hour event, people received a free Trejo doughnut with every ticket they purchased to go inside to see the museum.
“My doughnuts are the best in the world,” the burly 79-year-old Pacoima native declared.
“They are my mom’s recipe. God, she used to make some good doughnuts.”
When asked what he thought about National Doughnut Day, he grinned, “Every day is doughnut day.”
National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 and is on the first Friday of June every year in recognition of members of the Salvation Army who would give doughnuts to service members during World War I.
