This is too much for my ’90s country-loving heart to take.
Ever since he burst onto the scene with “Hurricane” back in 2016, Luke Combs has been praised for bringing back that ’90s country sound that everybody loves – but that had been missing from mainstream country music during the “bro-country” years.
And Shenandoah is, of course, one of the most iconic bands of the ’90s with hits like “Two Dozen Roses,” “Church on Cumberland Road,” and “The Moon Over Georgia.” (There’s also one of my personal favorites, “Janie Baker’s Love Slave,” but that one’s not on Spotify for some reason – which is a different rant for a different day).
Well it seems that Luke and Shenandoah are bringing their versions of the ’90s country sound together in what’s sure to be an epic collaboration.
In a post to their social media, Shenandoah shared a photo of lead singer Marty Raybon alongside Luke Combs with the caption:
“Good times in the studio today with @lukecombs. We have some exciting things in the works. Stay tuned!”
Hell. Yes.
Of course Luke has covered Shenandoah (along with many other ’90s country classics) in the past, including his cover of “Two Dozen Roses” last year during his show in Denver at Mile High Stadium.
Can’t wait to see what these two are cooking up. Whatever it is, you know it’s going to be good – and it’s going to be country.
